Camden
Camden is part of the historic town of the Macarthur Region of Sydney. This is within the state of New South Wales in Australia and in the Camden Council. It is 65 kilometres south west of the central business district of Sydney. It is the administrative centre if the Camden Council government area. In the latest census done in 2006 there are already 3,166 and the area was established in 1840. It uses a postcode of 2570. And there is a lot of area that is included within the suburb limitation.
For the early settlers of the location, there are many indigenous people or people who are known as Camden. They are originally at the northern edge of the land which belongs to the Gandangara people. These are from the Southern highlands that usually refer to it as Benkenni or dry land. And in the north of the Nepean River there were the Muringong and in the southernmost are the Darug people located. There is also the Tharawal person which is located at the east part of the area. They usually live with their extended family that can be from 20 to 40 members. The usually live through hunting kangaroos, eels and possums, they can also gather yams and some other fruits and vegetables. Their lived a simple life but when the British settlers came they turned to armed resistance due to the limited food resources and land. Their resistance ended in 1816 when a large number of people were massacred. In February 1805 the governor king instructed the surveyor to measure 5,000 acres of land for John Macarthur. Macarthur was promised a land by Lord Camden the Secretary of State for war and the colonies. He named it Camden Park after his sponsor. The town was subdivided to his children after his death in 1834 and the new town of Camden went on sale in 1840.
As for the climate, usually the area experience the hottest temperature during the month of January and the coldest usually falls on the most of July. And February often experience rainfall or precipitation. The climate is subject to change but there is no control on how it will be next year or the year after that.
There is a good research facility located in Camden it focuses on veterinary and agricultural schools of the University of Sydney. The area has two public high schools namely the Elderslie High School and the Camden High School. There are also eight Catholic and three Anglican schools. There are several notable residents of Camden which includes Steve Bradbury the skater on short speed track who was able to win the first Winter Olympics gold medal for Australia, Rob Hirst who is the drummer of the band Midnight Oil and John Macarthur the father of the Australian wool industry.
