Cecil Hills

Cecil Hills is one of the suburbs around Sydney. It is located 38 kilometres west of the Sydney Central Business District. It belongs to the state of New South Wales, Australia and under the local government area of the Liverpool City. It is also considered as a part of the Greater Western Sydney region.

History
Cecil Hills was named after the property of a prominent judge named John Wylde. In 1817, Wylde was then a judge-advocate of New South Wales. It all started when he became a recipient of a 2,000 acres grant of land in the parish of Cabramatta, which is just a nearby suburb of Cecil Hills. Later on, he named that massive piece of land Cecil Hills similar to his British property in Chestnut, Hertfordshire. He didn’t live longer on this estate because he was relocated and assigned as the Chief Justice of the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa. Only his wife stayed in the place to manage all the property until she died in 1864.

Cecil Hills was known as a farming area until the 1980s when it was redeveloped for housing projects. Later on, during 1992 the entire area including some parts of the old Cecil Hills property as well as some other neighboring properties, Cecil Hills was then declared as a suburb.

Transport
The main Cecil Hills road is situated just south west of the Cowpasture Road and Elizabeth Drive intersection.
