Ambarvale is located in the south western part of Sydney. It is a suburb that belongs to the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is 55 kilometers away from south west of Sydney’s central business district. Its government is under Campbelltown City and is also part of Macarthur region. This suburban area is mostly occupied by owners of residential houses and a few public and private housing.

Aboriginal Culture:
Ambarvale is a place reach in history. Over 40,000 years ago this place hosted the culture of Tharawal people. In fact up to this very day the surrounding areas still contains evidence of rock engravings, cave painting, axe grinding grooves and many more.

European Settlement:
The name Ambarvale was given to this place because of a former convict named Samuel Larkin who had a dairy farm property which he names as ‘Ambarvale’ . In 1972, this farm was later named as Glen Lora. Multiple dairy farms were then sold to be converted into housing. And then this suburb was officially launched in 1976.

Commercial Area:
The suburb has also its own shopping centre known in the Woodhouse Drive – known as ALDI. This was only launched on 2010 right after the older shopping centres were demolished. Then there is also an establishment called Ambarvale Tavern which caters food and gambling facilities. There is also another shopping centre which is one of the largest malls in southwest Sydney – called Macarthur Square Shopping center.

Transport:
In transportation this place is proud to have Macarthur railways station which is found just north of Ambarvale. This connects Campbelltown, Liverpool and Sidney CBD via South Line of the CityRail network. Then another railway – the Countrylink also connects with Macarthur and the Southern Highlands, Canberra, Griffith and Melbourne. There are bus services as well. The bus company named Busways and Interline Buses provides commuters to ride from Kellicar Road to and from Campbelltown.

Schools:
This suburb has two public primary schools. The first is Ambarvale Public and the other one is Thomas Acres Public and it also has one public high school – the Thomas Reddall High School.

Demographics:
The 2006 Census reported that Ambarvale had a population of 7,345 and mostly composed of young families. It has a median income of $417 per week. One fifth of the houses in this suburb is rented out by New South Wales Department of Housing. But more than half are owned or being paid for ownership. The people living on this suburb is composed mostly of 70.2% Australian, 3.3% English, 2.6% New Zealanders, 1.9% Filipinos, 0.9% Fijians and 0.8% Scottish. There are 60.3% of employed Ambarvale residents who are working full time and 23.7% who are working in part time basis. Ambarvale has an above average unemployment rate of 9.7% and 1779 people are not part of the labour force.
