Badgerys Creek, located in Sydney, Australia, is one of the suburbs in New South Wales. It is 51 kilometres away west of Sydney’s central Business district. This is a local government area in Liverpool city. It is adjacent to Austral and Kemps Creek. It is considered a part of Greater western Sydney region. The population in 2006 was recorded to reach 721. This suburb uses the postcode of 2555. Badgerys Creek is also home to the Liverpool Rifle Club.
The suburb begun when James Badgery, a farmer and a miller that is British-born granted 840 acres in the suburb that uses his name in 1806. Originally it was north side of the Elizabeth Drive of the land he granted. This land is now used for all the latest farming research done by CSIRO and the University of Sydney. James named his property Exeter Farm. And there is a creek that is running through his property and most local usually began calling it the Bargery’s Creek. James was able to own more lands but after he died, his property was subdivided in the 1880s. A school was then established in 1895. This begun the development of the area into a rural suburb and in 1981 it has a population of 1,560. In 1986, a Second Sydney Airport was created at the Badgerys Creek by the Federal Government. Because of this many properties were bought out and a lot of the population moves away that in 1996 the population decreased to 500 residents. The construction of the said airport was never started but the land is still owned by the Government.
The climate on the suburb could reach its highest during the month of January while its coldest month falls in to July. Usually the heaviest rainfall was recorded in February but there is no way of determining the climate easily. There are a lot of changes in the climate that makes it very difficult to track regularly.
The Badgerys Creek has one school which is the Badgerys Creek Primary. The flow of the creek is due north to the reservoir in the suburb. Same thing goes with the South Creek and the west reservoir. There is also the beautiful Badgerys Creek Park if you enjoy going on a nature trip. Most of the residents in the suburb have their property rented out; about 57% of the total population only rents their home.
The low number of population is because the land area that the supposedly airport should be created. But unluckily the government only took their money and not being able to create their project while all the land needed have already been collected. Once the airport is created business will start to grow and people will just slowly comeback.
