“I am very pleased with the pest treatment received by you. Your service is exceptional & will continue to get you back on a yearly basis.” Michael Lea, Chipping Norton
Chipping Norton is considered a suburb in Greater Western Sydney, NSW, Australia. It has the following coordinates in the globe: 33°54’40?S 150°57’32?E. It is located 27 kilometres Southwest of the Sydney’s CBD (Central Business District) in the local government area of Liverpool City.
The town was named after the United Kingdom town, Chipping Norton. Prior to the European settlements in the area, aboriginal cultures are living in the lake side of Chipping Norton. The Tharawal people inhabit the southern side of Georges River while the Darug people are on the north and west sides. Thomas Moore has been granted the waterfront land, which is now part of the park. In 1880s, “The Homestead” was built in the reserved grounds. The land was mined after farming activities declined. The river bank was severely eroded and packed with dangerous pits after 20 years of mining activities. In 1977, the Chipping Norton Lake Authority was established to rehabilitate, restore and maintain the area.
As part of Sydney, North South Wales, a temperate climate is observed in the Chipping Norton area. It has warm summers and mild winters; rain is spread throughout the year. The warmest month is January and the coldest is July. Cyclones do not affect the area.
Part of the rehabilitation of the once mining devastated land, the highlights of the suburb nowadays is the Chipping Norton Lakes. Lake areas along the Georges River in Homestead Avenue at Chipping Norton had been turned into a magnificent regional park built with cycle ways, playground equipment, sporting fields, picnic establishments, boat ramps, barbecue facilities, and the Georges River Environment Education Centre. These lake areas are Liverpool’s main recreational area. Cities of Liverpool, Bankstown and Fairfield are working together to protect the wildlife sanctuary and recreational areas in Chipping Norton.
The Chipping Norton Lakes have got several attractive foreshore walkways; among the list is the Lake Moore Walk, starting from the Chauvel Park up to the Haigh Park. It is a 45-minute return trip roughly 3.2 kilometres of flat and paved walkway. Watercraft sports on the lakes are permitted also but strictly limited to a speed of eight knots only. Another feature of the Chipping Norton Lakes is the Chipping Norton Recreation Center popularly known as The Lake Boatshed. It is a good venue for birthdays, weddings and other special occasions and functions. It can accommodate up to 100 persons with an upper balcony offering a magnificent view of the beautiful lake and the scenic park surrounding it.
All these are managed and supervised by the Chipping Norton Lake Authority.
